The Wiscasset Municipal Airport (identifier KIWI) is located in rural southern Wiscasset, with direct access to Route 144, then to Route 1. The primary feature of the airport is the runway, oriented southwest/northeast, with a paved surface that is 3,400 feet long and 75 feet wide. Other features of the airport consist of a paved 1,300-foot long by 35-foot wide parallel taxiway, 195,300 square foot paved aircraft parking apron, 11 privately owned hangars, which include two 12 unit T-hangars and seven conventional hangars, a small terminal/administrative building and approximately 14,000 square feet of paved aircraft aprons. The airport has sites available for immediate hangar development.

Wiscasset is in an ideal location along the Maine coastal route, midway between Portland and Rockland. Wiscasset Municipal Airport is the only public service facility between these two cities, and serves the growing communities between Brunswick and Boothbay Harbor.

The Airport has a Fixed Based Operator (FBO), Ocean Point Aviation, and a part-time airport manager. An FBO is a privately owned business that provides aircraft fuel, flight instruction, aircraft servicing, and repair. Click this link for more information about Ocean Point Aviation.

KIWI is a general aviation airport under the National Plan of Integrated Airports System (NPIAS). It is also a Level II facility under the Maine Aviation Systems Plan (MASP). The NPIAS and MASP classifications make the Airport eligible for both Federal and state aid under the Airport Improvement Program, or AIP.

According to the MASP, KIWI’s economic benefit to the community has a total output of over $2,000,000, with a payroll of nearly $780,000. The total economic impact for all Maine airports comprises 3.3 percent of the state’s estimated gross product, accounting for 4.2% of all jobs, with an estimated $488 million in payroll.

For more information about the airport and development opportunities, please contact the airport manager, town’s economic development director, or Ocean Point Aviation.
